Within the framework of a European project Spain is working together with Albania with the aim of improving free competition in Albanian markets
Tirana, the Albanian capital, has hosted activities aimed at supporting the harmonisation of the country’s legislation on competition with the regulations and the acquis communautaire. A group of Spanish specialists belonging to the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) and the University of Valencia, have continued their work with their Albanian counterparts.
These activities are being carried out as part of the Twinning Project on Market Competition in Albania, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
On this occasion, the work has focused on identifying the areas for improvement in Albanian competition regulations in order to incorporate the latest advances introduced by the Community Directive known as the ECN+ Directive.
This directive is aimed at providing the means to apply competition rules more effectively and ensure the proper functioning of the internal market. This implies the incorporation of certain standards and guarantees to said regulations.
Under the slogan “Developing solid cooperation for free and effective competition“, the project aims to further strengthen the administrative and institutional capacities of the Competition Authority in Albania, in order to ensure its functionality in protecting free competition in the country’s markets, based on the current legal framework and the acquis communautaire.
