EUROsociAL+ has held another Country Dialogue round table in Argentina where inequality gaps in Latin America have been addressed
Under the project EUROsociAL+ , the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship together with the European Union have organised a Country Dialogue Round Table in which the strategic work priorities have been agreed until the end of 2021. The meeting was attended by more than 30 officials and representatives of Argentine institutions.
The project, which is managed by FIIAPP and financed by the European Union, is in the final stages of its third phase of implementation that started in 2016. The project seeks to build bridges between authorities, managers, and experts from both regions to exchange experiences and best practices that improve levels of social cohesion and reduce inequality in Latin America.
The meeting was attended by the European Union ambassador to Argentina, Aude Maio-Coliche. She stressed that the European Union will continue to accompany a significant number of its Argentine counterparts with its expertise, with the aim of supporting public policy reforms that promote gender equality, democratic governance and a wide variety of social policies that strengthen social cohesion.
Within this framework, the European Union will support the strengthening of the “Argentina Plan against Hunger”. Among other actions, it will accompany the Ministries of Women, Genders, and Diversity and of Social Development in building a more equitable comprehensive care system with a gender perspective.
For his part, the project director, Juan Manuel Santomé, concluded that “after fifteen years of experience, EUROsociAL+ has proven to be a special laboratory of innovation, and has established itself as a genuine and different model for cooperation in Latin America”.
About EUROsociAL+ and its third phase
The European Union’s cooperation project with Latin America, the guiding principles of which are the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, has incorporated gender equality in its third phase as a priority axis in all its interventions, ensuring the application of the gender perspective in all public policies, from design and development to implementation.
