A Bolivian delegation visits the facilities of AMERIPOL, in Colombia, to learn about the mechanisms for combating people smuggling and human trafficking
This training is among the programmed activities of the bilateral project with the Andean country on the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes, financed by the European Union.
This activity is included in the programme of actions carried out in the fight against trafficking in human beings and was headed by Bolivian police and tax authorities, who visited the AMERIPOL facilities at its headquarters in Bogotá, Colombia.
Colombia is a country that, both legislatively and organisationally, is very similar to Bolivia, so it was possible to exchange knowledge on inter-institutional coordination and regional coordination, both of which are essential mechanisms for the effective fight against this crime.
The Bolivian project with European funding is managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies, FIIAPP, in coordination with the Coordination Secretariat of the National Council Against Illicit Drug Trafficking, SC-CONALTID.
Apart from this, the FIIAPP also supports the institutional strengthening of AMERIPOL through the Support to AMERIPOL Project linked to EL PAcCTO. This body, whose objective is to consolidate a police community of American States, will allow substantial improvement in investigative coordination, fluidity and information exchange and the creation of joint investigation teams. All this will allow a more effective and efficient response in the fight against cross-border crimes, against organised crime in its broadest dimension and specifically by improving the impact of public interdiction policies in the fight against human trafficking.
The coordination between FIIAPP projects is a fundamental axis in its institutional strategy as a management model based on the responsible and ethical use of economic resources and its positive contribution to its actions having a greater impact.
