At the European Week of Regions and Cities, the programme presented Latin American policies for territorial development
Session on regional development organised by EUROsociAL+
For another year, EUROsociAL+ has participated in the European Week of Regions and Cities, the most important global event on regional development, organised by the European Committee of the Regions and the Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission. According to the Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, it is also the “most important cohesion policy event in Europe”.
EUROsociAL+, the programme funded by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP, presented a session on the impact of exchanges between Europe and Latin America on territorial development.
The debate was moderated by Gianluca Spinaci, of the European Committee of the Regions, and was participated in by Diego Soto, Deputy Minister of Planning of Costa Rica; Varinia Michalum, of the OECD; Joao Guimaraes, international expert in regional development and Juan Manuel Santomé, Director of EUROsociAL+. The session addressed issues such as the challenges of territorialising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), cross-border policies, the challenges of sustainable cities and innovation in regional development.
Likewise, within the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities, the 5th meeting of the Latin American Public Policy Network for Regional Development, promoted by EUROsociAL in 2013, took place to highlight the importance of these policies.
