FIIAPP and the Social Support Fund of Angola present the actions in the 2016 Operating Plan. The cooperation project for local development in Angola is financed by the European Union.
The Angolan Social Support Fund (FAS IV) and the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) have presented in Luanda, capital of Angola, the Operational Plan of the Project for cooperation for local development in Angola for 2016.
The project, financed by the European Union, managed by FIIAPP and operated by the Angolan Social Support Fund (FAS IV), an agency dependent on the Ministry of Territorial Administration (Angola), aims to reduce poverty in the country by strengthening and developing local economies in the poorest areas.
The project, with more than 29 million euros of funding, began in January 2015 and is scheduled to end in the same month in 2018. Other objectives are to reduce regional imbalances and disparities in access to basic social services.
The actions included in the 2016 Operational Plan should also contribute to promoting a diversified local economy, as well as strengthening the capacity of local governments to provide quality services to needy families in 18 provinces.
The tools available to the project are decentralization, the creation of opportunities to generate income, improved access to basic services and the strengthening of local institutions.
The presentation ceremony brought together in the Angolan capital Agustín Fernández, Director of the Public Administration and Social Affairs Area of FIIAPP, Bornito de Sousa, Minister of Territorial Administration, the Governor of the province of Luanda and the ambassador of the European Union in Angola, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and the United Nations system accredited in the Republic of Angola and representatives of the Ministries of Planning and Territorial Development, Finance, Health, Education, Economy, Trade and Social Welfare of Angola.
