A FIIAPP project is given as an example of good management in a document distributed around the Pre-Accession countries
In the most recent edition of Twinning News published for the IPA (Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance) area, dated 14 May, the planning of the activities of the project in Turkey on ship-sourced emissions is cited as a good Twinning practice. That project is managed by the FIIAPP and the Merchant Navy Directorate-General of the Spanish Ministry for Public Works.
With a huge wall chart, all the activities are planned out, so they are perfectly mapped out and shared with the beneficiary of the project.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of the Turkish administration to ensure a high level of control of ship-sourced emissions through 4 main activities:
1. Development of a model for the dispersion of emissions.
2. Preparation of an action plan for the Turkish administration in relation to the elimination of ship-sourced emissions.
3. Preparation of drafts of the legal texts to harmonise Turkish legislation with EU law and international conventions.
4. Training of ship inspectors to reinforce measures for the prevention of pollution.
