Entre sus principales objetivos destaca el fomento de la transparencia informativa del sector.
Fundaciones.es is the first portal for Spanish foundations that was created to provide information on Spanish foundations to civil society in an organised, streamlined format. This project is promoted by the Spanish Association of Foundations (AEF) andsponsored by the Mahou San Miguel Foundation. It is currently the most complete, updated database of Spanish foundations.
Through fundaciones.es, the AEF provides basic information about Spanish foundations (their headquarters, websites, purposes and activities, the composition of their governing organisations, etc.); various search options for finding information (by area and type of activity, geographic area, date of foundation, types of beneficiaries, etc.); and precise information about their work, as well as a dynamic vision of the size and possibilities of future development.
The site’s objectives include: encouraging the exchange of experiences, awareness of the sector, and collaboration among the foundations; promoting the participation of civil society in the foundations’ projects, and contributing to strengthening civil society through informational transparency, which isreinforced and expanded with fundaciones.es.
The site is also intended to contribute to developing a self-sufficient community (with the appropriate tools), serving as an employment search site that provides information to people interested in collaborating as volunteers or making donations to support the foundations’ work, including the current content in their area of activity, among others.
With this site, the AEF reaffirms its commitment to promoting awareness of the foundation sector by providing reliable figures and data about its activity and its contribution to the socio-economic development of our country.
Fundaciones.es is intended for all sectors of society: researchers in the sector, public institutions, students (scholarships and grants), social organisations (support for implementing projects), citizens (donors, volunteer, etc.), foundation sponsors and directors, people in charge of communication and patronage with companies, as well as all the potential beneficiaries of foundations’ activity and, in general, anyone who is interested in knowing about foundations as institutions.
The Spanish foundation sector has 200,000 employees and expenditure of nearly 8.5 billion Euros; it accounts for approximately 1% of Spanish GDP, benefits over 23 million people and is positioned as an independent, sustainable sector since over 80% of its revenue is based on private participation.
