The Academic Guide for Tax Education is part of the EUROsociAL activities to promote tax education and culture in Latin America
FIIAPP and the Ministry of the Treasury of El Salvador have collaborated with the Ministry of the Treasury of Costa Rica in the edition of this innovative educational method, which, through play activities, combines solidarity and the common good in order for young to embrace the principles of a true fiscal education and culture. The creation of this guide is the result of an inter-institutional initiative between the Ministries, the AFIP of Argentina (which provided some of the materials of the guide) and the FIIAPP as the coordinating partner responsible for the Tax Education activities in the area of Public Finances for EUROsociAL II.
This publication demonstrates part of the essence of EUROsociAL as it is the product of south-south cooperation exchange. Several key sectors for social cohesion are present, such as public finances (tax education), transparency (section on tax havens) and education (educational training). In addition, gender issues and building citizenship are addressed.
The guide does not limit the developed content; rather it is intended to be a tool to boost creativity and innovation for ongoing improvement, as it is still undergoing the building process and is far from being a finished product, similar to our young people’s awareness of tax issues.
The publication emphasizes that “this material promotes reflection and investigation so as to bring about a change in direction thereby educating citizens who will in the fight for a more just and equitable Costa Rica, in which everyone is aware of their rights and equally committed to their obligations.”
