A-TIPSOM: fight against human trafficking and irregular migration in Nigeria

The overall objective of this project finance by the European Union is contributing to decrease the ratio of trafficking in person (TIP) and smuggling of migrants (SOM) at national and regional level, and between Nigeria and the EU, with specific emphasis on women and children.

 

A-TIPSOM can be summarize in five specific outcomes: Policy, enhancing the ability of the Government of Nigeria to address trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants; Prevention, improved governance of migration sector in Nigeria, with focus on THB and SOM; Protection, enhanced prevention of THB and SOM in key states of origin and of transit; Prosecution, improved protection returns and reintegration of victims of trafficking and of vulnerable smuggled migrants, particularly from Europe; and Partnership, enhanced identification, investigation and prosecution of traffickers and smugglers.

 

For four years, Spanish experts from the National Police of Spain will work on the project to improve international, national and regional cooperation. Spain has an important roll on this task, being one of the main destiny countries of the UE.
