Strengthening the Egyptian Tax Authority

A 24-month European twinning project to strengthen the Egyptian Tax Administration (ETA), during which work will be carried out to make the administration more efficient, modern and aligned with European standards.

The project's main objectives are to achieve the harmonisation and adaptation of tax rules to bring them in line with European legislation; reform the ETA by modernising and simplifying its structure, functionalities and procedures; improve regulation and collection in the new Egyptian business context where small and medium-sized companies have increased; and, lastly, to carry out a public awareness raising campaign on the need for taxation to finance public services.

FIIAPP's experience in managing  cooperation projects together with the knowledge provided by the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) can contribute great value to the Egyptian Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the ETA. AEAT is an international benchmark with a central and countrywide organisational structure that fits in with the Egyptian reality, which will contribute to promoting the coordination of management and decision-making at both the decentralised and state levels. Therefore, training sessions will be held on planning, management, risk analysis, functional areas, objectives for human resources, as well as the computer applications used in Spain that serve as a reference for changes in Egyptian tax management.
